As announced in our newsletter, barox Kommunikation AG, a global manufacturer of professional video Switches, media converters and IP extenders specifically for video applications, is pleased to announce that its RY-LGSP28-52/740 Managed Ethernet Switch has been named the leading Ethernet Switch finalist in the ‘Infrastructure’ category of the Benchmark Innovation Awards 2020.

 

The British, independent magazine Benchmark, which is dedicated to promoting technological innovations for the electronic security industry, conducts its annual Innovation Awards to recognize and reward new solution thinking.

As the first product of the “next generation” of the RY-LGSP28 series of «Managed Ethernet Switches», the barox Switch RY-LGSP28-52/740 raises the bar for devices for the transmission of high data volumes. The RY-LGSP28-52/740 is a Layer-2/3 Switch with 48 ports and POE+ as well as L3 functionality, which is suitable for video-over-IP and video streaming in multicast mode. The RY-LGSP28-52/740 was developed to meet the demanding requirements of video networks.

The barox RY-LGSP28-52/740 was developed based on customer feedback and ensures that the cameras remain operational when a restart needs to be performed. For example, when network cameras are changed or the firmware is updated, the “Non-Stop-PoE” function of the RY-LGSP28-52/740 can be set so that all ports are always supplied with power. This clever functionality means that the cameras can continue to be powered without losing important video footage from the cameras during routine technical procedures – a particularly important feature in high-security applications.

 

The RY-LGSP28-52/740 delivers streaming video without any signs of stuttering, even when each of its 48 ports is equipped with megapixel cameras. To achieve this high degree of smooth video transmission performance, the barox Ethernet Switch has a (up to) 25% higher backplane capacity. The Ethernet Switches of the RY-LGSP28 series are characterized by a powerful mix of sophisticated features and functions, including Precision Time Protocol, Ethernet Ring Protection Switching and Advanced Access Protection, Management, Performance, and AMPS, which protects the network from unauthorized access.

 

The Device Management System (DMS) from barox offers a graphical live overview of the entire network topology and helps with the management of security, networks and connected devices. A port mirroring tool is also available for diagnostic purposes to support maintenance and setup requirements. In addition, with the barox Switch of the RY-28 series, Deep Cyber Protection can be configured to automatically detect and stop fragmented UDP via the integrated ACL (Access Control List) Switch menu options. Blocking fragmented UDP protects networks and their devices such as IP cameras, VMS and servers from illegal access such as Ripple 20 attacks.
