Barox Launches Siemens Siveillance™ Video IP Video Network Plug-in
New Plug-in Offers Valuable Network Information
barox Kommunikation AG, a manufacturer of IT Switches specifically designed for the requirements of video networks, has developed a DMS SNMP Siemens Siveillance™ Video Plug-in. This enables installers and end users to fully exploit the benefits of Siemens Siveillance™ Video software control. The new plug-in supports all barox Switches in the RY series.
The new Siemens Siveillance™ Video Plug-in is available free of charge from barox. It is supplied as a download link or on a memory stick. It enables active real-time monitoring of connected cameras/devices, active monitoring of PoE, PoE power, and power management directly from the Siemens Siveillance™ Video Plug-in.
The integrated graphical user interface of the DMS enables installers and operators to monitor an entire video network via a graphical live overview of the network topology. A separate installation of network management is not required. The barox Siemens Siveillance™ Video Plug-in enables the creation of system diagnostic data. These display the status of cameras and Switches, thus enabling rapid localization of network and device problems. For example, if a network camera does not respond, the plug-in can be used to select and restart any device.
The ability to see PoE usage live on each port facilitates remote diagnosis of faults and failures, so that the new plug-in in Barox Switches can function as a “Health Center”, evaluate end devices, and automatically create a tree diagram with all network devices. In this way, the operator always has an overview of which cameras are connected and in operation. This is a particularly useful function, as surveillance cameras behave differently from other types of IP devices. IP cameras have a fluctuating power consumption due to aperture activation, pan/tilt motor drives, heaters, or IR emitters.
The barox Siveillance™ Plug-in, an indispensable IP network tool, helps installers and system operators to proactively detect and respond to camera degenerations or automatically reset frozen cameras by interrupting their PoE to force a restart. If the barox “Active Camera Tracking” automatically pings a camera that does not respond, the error logging marks the problem and enables proactive localization of network and device problems.
“With the new Siemens Siveillance™ Video Plug-in, barox is a leader in IP network management for video and helps professional installers reduce their replacement costs and minimize network downtime,” says Rudolf Rohr, barox co-founder and Managing Partner. “barox develops all of its products to meet the specific requirements of video surveillance networks, helping installers save costs by minimizing setup time and network downtime and avoiding avoidable service trips to the site.”
