Barox Joins the Advancis Premium Technology Partner Program

barox Kommunikation AG, the global manufacturer of professional video Switches, media converters, and IP extenders specifically for video applications, is now an advancis Premium Technology Partner. This partnership supports installers and integrators in achieving optimal results for IP camera installations.

advancis Software & Services GmbH, the manufacturer of WinGuard PSIM (Physical Security Information Management), a highly flexible “Command & Control” software for the integration of security, safety, communication, and building management systems, relies on open network architecture and manufacturer neutrality. Their “Command & Control” technologies offer customers freedom of choice and the ability to unify monitoring and control operations from different system brands of all kinds. Their unified management application offers improved security, higher system efficiency, and specific solutions. Through close cooperation, advancis strives for WinGuard integration and control of technology partners’ systems. In this way – to the advantage of all involved – the integration is always kept up to date.

Integrated solutions

The integration of WinGuard into barox Switches can provide extended diagnostic data that displays the status of cameras and Switches and enables rapid localization of network/device problems. For example, if a network camera is not responding, the barox Switches can be used to select a specific device and send a restart command here.

Through their integrated Device Management System (DMS), barox products have numerous helpful network monitoring functions that enable visualization and analysis of the entire hardware and connectivity. To enable errors and failures to be diagnosed remotely, the barox tools offer, among other things, PoE monitoring, cable diagnostics, and remote Switch traffic monitoring, in which live data traffic per port is displayed in a graphical diagram, allowing the entire video network and all connected cameras to be analyzed.

“We have thoroughly tested certain integration functions of barox’s managed Switches, which we identified as very useful for our joint customer base in technical workshops between advancis and barox,” explains David Teppe, Strategic Alliance Manager at advancis. “With the barox PoE Switches and their current integration into WinGuard, we can, for example, restore undetectable camera signals caused by device errors by restarting the device remotely. This is particularly useful when a camera is difficult to access due to its mounting location (e.g. on high masts in parking lots, in tunnels, or under ceilings in busy areas such as airports or entrance lobbies).

“We look forward to offering joint barox/advancis solutions for every type of application, whether small or large, including critical infrastructure, ports, airports, prisons, banks, retail, utilities, transportation, and with systems such as CCTV, access control, fire, intercom, public address, and complete building control.”

“The partnership with advancis is a major step for barox,” says Rudolf Rohr, barox co-founder and managing partner. “barox develops all products to meet the specific requirements of video surveillance networks. barox enables installers to reduce the cost of replacing equipment and minimize network downtime, which in turn saves costs by minimizing the time it takes to set up the network and the avoidable trips to the site.”

“With our close technical partnership, advancis and barox are ideally positioned to help installers and system operators proactively detect and respond to camera degenerations, or automatically reset frozen cameras by interrupting their PoE and forcing a restart. This functionality is perfectly complemented by simple identification of all devices on CAD plans and GIS maps in WinGuard, as well as controlled workflows and logging of all operator actions.”
