Dallmeier Electronic Has Approved Ethernet Switches from Barox Kommunikation for Use with Panomera Cameras.

In a recent performance test conducted by Dallmeier, barox Switches were integrated with Panomera cameras in an extensive installation and successfully tested. The test was carried out to test the feasibility and video transmission performance of the combination of barox Switches and Panomera cameras. The primary objective was to develop a solution for a complex installation in a distribution center of a leading logistics company. For this project, Dallmeier was explicitly asked by the customer to use barox products. As with large stadium projects, this logistics project required the collection of large amounts of video data by the provider.

The comprehensive test involved data security specialists who particularly praised the integrated cyber security functions of the barox Switches and the low total cost of ownership (TCO). By using the Panomera cameras with the patented multifocal sensor technology, customers can save up to 90% of the infrastructure and require up to 24x fewer cameras compared to conventional camera technology. This makes the barox Switches in combination with the Dallmeier Panomera cameras suitable for use in highly secure surveillance applications with a high data volume. The barox Switch/Panomera camera multicast capability is a specific requirement to support multiple users, where video data from a single source can be split into multiple streams to distribute the video content to different monitoring stations. With the integration of the barox Switches, the logistics customer now has a reliable solution that perfectly covers the requirements for the high data volume and offers unique advantages for its video and process monitoring.

Kai Gronauer, Strategic Alliances Manager at Dallmeier electronic, explains, “We are extremely satisfied with the cooperation with barox and certify their Switches specially developed for video technology. We like their functionality, such as the Device Management System (DMS), where you can monitor the network architecture of the devices, Switches and servers as well as the incoming and outgoing data traffic using the configuration and monitoring menu. We are also impressed by the sound technical support from barox; a service that many companies do not offer in this way. The device functionality and the simple set-up together with ‘permanent PoE’ (which reduces the camera downtime in the event of a required restart) as well as the automatic restart functionality are ideal properties for monitoring with Panomera cameras.

Multicast applications represent a complex challenge for video networks with a high performance requirement, which is why they are avoided by many Switch manufacturers. Packets often have to be replicated at an exponential rate, resulting in enormous bandwidth and CPU requirements. However, barox products fully support this challenging scenario.
