barox and Digital Watchdog Launch New Plugin Integration, bringing Network Intelligence to DW Spectrum
barox and Digital Watchdog (DW) have announced the launch and availability of a new technology integration connecting DW Spectrum IPVMS with barox video network infrastructure, bringing network visibility, diagnostics and control directly into the video management environment.
The new plugin integration, developed by barox, connects DW Spectrum IPVMS with the Device Management System (DMS) software agents embedded within barox Ethernet switches and enables security and network teams to manage cameras, video streams and the network infrastructure supporting them through a single interface.
By providing direct visibility and control of the video security network layer within DW Spectrum, operators can identify networking issues, diagnose faults and remotely respond to problems affecting their IP video systems. Operators no longer need to switch between separate video and network management systems to investigate many common network and camera issues.
Connecting video and network management
Using barox RY-series Ethernet switches, the integration enables DW Spectrum to display, control and diagnose cameras, switches and network connectivity, allowing operators to identify potential network issues, and investigate them through network topology and physical views. If a network device or camera stops responding, operators can select the relevant device and issue a remote reboot command through the barox switch. This includes the ability to interrupt Power over Ethernet (PoE) to a connected camera, forcing it to reboot automatically or remotely. This provides installers and system operators with a practical way to respond quickly to camera degradation, frozen devices and other network-related issues and deliver faster fault diagnosis, reduced downtime and greater system availability. The ability to remotely identify and resolve both network and camera issues in a single user interface helps reduce unnecessary site visits and support costs, while improving network uptime and operator efficiency. The barox plugin integration is also license-free.
Bringing network intelligence into DW Spectrum
DW Spectrum IPVMS is an open-architecture IP video management platform designed to view, record and manage digital security camera systems. Supporting third-party cameras, encoders and devices through standards including ONVIF and RTSP, it can be deployed across a wide range of video security environments. With cross-platform support for Windows, Linux and macOS, alongside iOS and Android mobile applications, DW Spectrum can scale from smaller installations to large, distributed enterprise deployments.
The barox integration extends DW Spectrum beyond traditional video management by providing visibility and control of the underlying network infrastructure directly within the platform. Security teams can therefore see not only what is happening with their video, but also the network infrastructure supporting it. The broad portfolio of barox switches supporting the integration are purpose-built for demanding video security applications, incorporating ONVIF, specialised PoE capabilities, advanced cybersecurity, high system resilience and deep network visibility.
Technology partnership broadens barox’s ecosystem of technology partnership integrations
The launch represents the latest addition to barox’s network of Video Management System (VMS) and Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) platforms integration partnerships, unparalleled in the security network infrastructure market. This enables installers and integrators to select the technologies best suited to their projects, while benefiting from purpose-built network hardware, intelligent diagnostics and integrated network management. The approach reflects barox’s focus on delivering networking solutions specifically engineered for IP video, helping installers and integrators improve the performance, resilience and manageability of security camera installations.
Reinhard Florin, President, barox Communication Corp., said: “We are delighted to announce our technology partnership with Digital Watchdog and the availability of our integration with DW Spectrum IPVMS. The integration demonstrates the value of combining intelligent video networking with a leading video management platform, giving installers, integrators and system operators greater visibility and control of the infrastructure supporting their security systems.”
Patrick Kelly, Senior Director of Strategy at Digital Watchdog, said: “A camera is only as reliable as the network behind it. Our technology partnership with barox brings that network into plain view inside DW Spectrum, so installers and system operators can finally see the infrastructure their cameras depend on. Spotting a camera as it starts to degrade, pinpointing exactly where it sits in the network, diagnosing the fault and cutting its PoE to force a reboot, all from one screen, without sending an engineer to site, is the difference between a five-minute fix and a truck roll.
That is what integration between video management and network infrastructure should deliver: fewer unknowns, fewer site visits, and more confidence in the system.”
To showcase the capabilities of the new integration, it will be demonstrated as part of Digital Watchdog’s monthly “Works With” online webinar series on October 15th at 11:00 AM EST in a session titled “Building an Intelligent Video Security Network Layer”. Parties interested in attending can register at Works with DW Spectrum Webinar: barox Communications.
