Barox Introduces the New Genetec Plug-In.

 

barox introduces its new Genetec plug-in under the name barox Network Management. The Genetec plug-in offers the user a high degree of flexibility, enhanced user control and a significant reduction in support costs for the operation of security networks.

 

Genetec Omnicast is an IP-based VMS system that enables intelligent video surveillance. The new Genetec DMS plug-in can be easily integrated into the Ethernet Switches/network control from barox, underlining barox’s principles of offering advanced network solutions tailored to the current needs of the video security market.

 

barox is the only manufacturer in the world whose Switches can be directly integrated into the Genetec Omnicast VMS. This makes it easy to identify and rectify network, device and cable problems from the Genetec VMS. In addition, support calls, on-site visits by technicians and costs for end customers and installers are drastically reduced.

 

Easy remote reboot of cameras
The Genetec plug-in allows users to directly manage all IP devices in their security network, including the ability for an operator to remotely reboot any frozen camera. With the plug-in, users also benefit from the advantages of barox Ethernet Switches, such as active camera monitoring, PoE monitoring and active PoE start-up management.

 

Non-Stop PoE function

The Non-Stop PoE function of the new 28 and 38 Switch series from barox makes it possible to carry out firmware upgrades on the Switch without the camera PoE and thus the power supply being lost. This drastically reduces the loss of video data.

 

DMS (Device Management System)

The DMS, which becomes part of the Genetec Eco-System via the plug-in, offers a graphical live overview of the network topology with a wealth of valuable information. For example, if a network camera is not responding, the plug-in can be used to select any device and send a restart command. Functions include PoE monitoring, cable diagnostics and remote Switch traffic monitoring, where live data traffic is displayed in a graphical diagram. The ability to monitor traffic at each port facilitates remote diagnosis of faults and failures.

 

Other customer benefits of the Genetec DMS plug-in include cybersecurity functions such as login with authentication certificate, jumbo frames with 100 to 1000 Mbits to ensure that no camera images are lost, and regular automatic camera pings to check and report the camera status. Cyber security breaches can also be detected and ports can be automatically and immediately shut down to neutralise any threat and protect the network from attacks.
