barox 10Gb switch wins Benchmark Innovation Awards 2024
barox has won the Network and Connectivity Innovation Award in the prestigious Benchmark Innovation Awards 2024.
The Benchmark Innovation Awards reward organisations that are leading the way in the security sector by addressing specific challenges in a dynamic and evolving landscape. They represent the best technology in the security industry and recognise the pioneering products and solutions that have significantly impacted the sector over the past year. Voted for by Benchmark’s readers, the award winners showcase cutting-edge technology and creativity that are shaping the future of security. Winning the Network and Connectivity Innovation category, the barox RY-LGSO38-10 10Gb SFP Light Core Ethernet switch earned the highest accolade, pitched against other industry renowned technology.
Built for handling the high data loads associated with video surveillance applications, the barox RY-LGSO38-10 offers reliable, high-speed data transmission and extensive security features alongside a robust 200Gb backplane and 10 x 10Gb port capability. On-board security is designed to protect the switch itself and network traffic, whilst high CPU performance and fast memory ensure that the RY-LGSO38-10 can efficiently handle maximum port security and data loads.
Already deployed in critical infrastructure projects across the UK and beyond, one of the standout features of the RY-LGSO38-10 is its ability to support jumbo frames up to 10,240 bytes, even at 100 Mbit/s. This feature is crucial for maintaining the integrity of video data in security systems where high bandwidth and reliable data transmission are essential. It prevents data loss in large and small frame streams, ensuring that all video data is transmitted and received without any loss or corruption.
The Layer 3 switch also boasts advanced capabilities like OSPFv2/v3 and RIPv1/v2, enabling dynamic routing and greater failover to handle complex network tasks. The switch's Access Control List (ACL) feature acts like an internal firewall, blocking unwanted protocols, packets, and frames, thereby significantly contributing to network security. Layer 3 allows dynamic routing with greater failover.
barox has equipped the RY-LGSO38-10 with a comprehensive Device Management System (DMS). This system provides a graphical network overview, displaying all switches and end devices, such as IP cameras or servers, with details like IP addresses, device types, and names. The DMS can also display data traffic per port graphically over a time axis and alert users if the bandwidth is too high or too low. This monitoring capability ensures that the network remains robust and responsive to the demands of modern security systems.
The RY-LGSO38-10's integration with leading VMS and PSIM providers, including Genetec, Genesys by ISM, Milestone and Siveillance Video, further enhances its utility. The switch can report network discrepancies and errors directly to the VMS, which then provides instructions to the switch, ensuring seamless operation and management of the security network for end users.
“This award is great news for barox and the RY-LGSO38-10 Ethernet switch,” says Rudolf Rohr, barox Co-founder and Managing partner. “To win this award and be recognised by an independent, industry publication such as Benchmark, and to be a winner as voted for by its readers, is a real honour.
“This award win reinforces our commitment to innovation and providing products that deliver the ultimate network performance and cyber security, between camera and control room - across a broad range of applications. Our advanced range of 10Gb Ethernet switches sets barox apart from other switch manufacturers, establishing barox as the go-to brand for video transmission performance and cyber security.”
