1998Foundation of barox Kommunikation AG
barox Kommunikation AG was founded on September 1, 1998 in Baden, Switzerland. The name “barox” is derived from the surnames of the two founders, Angelo Banfi and Rudolf Rohr. Over the years, our central concern has been the reliable transmission of both analog and digital video signals via fiber optics.

Establishment of the subsidiary
In 2003, the subsidiary barox Kommunikation GmbH was founded and based in Lörrach, Germany. The establishment of this location in Germany enabled us to advise and supply the entire German-speaking area more efficiently.

2007barox receives ISO9001 certification
In 2007, the companies obtained ISO9001 certification. This certification proves that the barox companies meet strict international standards and are committed to continuously offering high-quality products and services.

2010First own products are developed
The development and market launch of our first own products marked a milestone in our corporate development. Our HD video encoders have proven themselves particularly well in broadcasting applications.

2014Market launch of the first barox switches
The market launch of the first barox Switches in Germany, Austria and Switzerland marked the beginning of a groundbreaking phase. The main focus was on developing Switches specifically for the requirements and needs of video surveillance networks.

2018Market expansion in Europe
The expansion and distribution of barox products in other European countries begins.

2019barox receives ISO27001 certification
barox obtains ISO27001 certification. barox thus proves that it has implemented effective security measures in its information security management.

2020Market expansion in the Middle East
Distribution in the Middle East is being established.

2022barox receives ISO14001 certification
barox is now ISO14001 certified. The international standard defines requirements for environmental management. Through the certification, our customers have the certainty that barox continuously checks and improves environmental standards.

barox Kommunikation AG is celebrating its 25th anniversary and is now a respected partner in network technology for video transmission. barox skillfully uses the experience built up over decades to develop innovative products that specifically cover the requirements and needs of video technology.

barox is establishing its sales activities in North America and will present a product portfolio tailored to the market at ISC EAST in New York in November 2025. With growing geographical surveillance coverage, advanced camera technologies, and the use of AI, video security networks in North America are becoming increasingly sophisticated and complex. barox offers customized hardware and software solutions for these high requirements.
